B.A. English Literature and History of Art Full-time

Year: 3
2025/26 Session

Students taking 60 or 80 credits in Art History or English must take one of the following dissertation modules:

Students taking 40 credits in Art History and 80 credits in English Lit

Art History: Students choose ONE Special Subject in Semester 1 and ONE in Semester 2
English Lit: students must take the English Lit Dissertation in addition to one Special Subject from either Block A or B and one Special Subject from either Block C or D

Students taking 60 credits in Art History and 60c in English

Art History: Students choose a Special Subject in Sem 1 plus the 40c HoA Long Dissertation. English Lit: students choose one Special Subject from either Block A or B, one Special Subject from Block C and a Special Subject from Block D
OR
Art History: Students choose ONE Special Subject in Semester 2 plus the HoA Long Dissertation. English Lit students choose one Special Subject from Block A, one Special Subject from Block B and one Special Subject from either Block C or D
OR
Art History: Students choose ONE Special Subject in Semester 1 and ONE Special Subject in Semester 2. You also take the Linked Dissertation (of which only 20 credits are assigned to HoA). English Lit: Students choose one Special Subject from either Block A or B and one Special Subject from either Block C or D
OR
Art History: Students choose ONE Special Subject in Semester 1 and TWO Special Subjects in Semester 2.

English: students take the credit English Lit Dissertation in addition to one Special Subject from either Block A or B
OR
Art History: Students choose TWO Special Subjects in Sem 1 and ONE in Sem 2.
English: students take the English Lit Dissertation in addition to one Special Subject from either Block C or D

Students taking 80c of Art History and 40c in English Lit

Art History: Students choose ONE Special Subject in Sem 1 and ONE Special Subject in Sem 2, plus the HoA Long Dissertation. English Lit: Students choose one Special Subject from either Block A or B and one Special Subject from either Block C or D

Students may also apply to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H. If successful this will be taken in place of one of their semester 1 taught modules. The placement can be taken either during the summer vacation vacation (part-time or full-time) or during semester 1 (part-time only). The placement must be completed prior to the Christmas vacation. Students who undertook a Professional Skills module at level I will not be able to undertake a Professional Skills module at level H.
